TAPPAN ZEE BRIDGE DRAFT ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT

In conjunction with the preparation of an Environmental Impact Statement by the Federal Highway Administration, the New York State Department of Transportation and the New York Sate Thruway Authority, a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) has been produced.

Participants in Recreation & Parks Programs: Call the Recreation Hotline for Up-to-Date Weather Related Closings

The weather forecast for Saturday, January 21st is calling for snow. Participants in Recreation programs scheduled for the day may call the Recreation Hotline, (914) 422-1338, starting at 8:30 am to receive an update on the status of their program. Any postponements or cancellations will be recorded on the hotline.
Participants in programs held at the Ebersole Ice Rink may call (914) 422-1348 after 7:00 am for an update on the status of programs held there.
Also, the Recreation Office at 85 Gedney Way will be open on Saturday from 9:00 am – Noon. Residents may call (914) 422-1336 during those hours with any questions.

CITY & HOSPITAL PARTNER ON HEALTH LECTURE SERIES

Mayor Thomas M. Roach invites all adults ages 50 and over to participate in a series of free and informative lectures. The City of White Plains has partnered with White Plains Hospital Center to offer these presentations on interesting health related topics geared particularly to the 50 + age group. The lectures will be presented by local health care professionals.

The wait for Live, Love, Dance! A tribute to Darlene Love just got a little shorter. The program will take place Friday, January 27, 2012 instead of Saturday, January 28. Everything else about the program will remain the same; the show will take place at the White Plains Performing Arts Center at 7 p.m. and feature an amazing array of performers, including Darlene Love!

Please join Mayor Thomas M. Roach and The Volunteer Center of United Way on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 3:00 PM in the City Hall Lobby as they invite White Plains residents to participate in the Volunteer Center’s January 14 Day of Service honoring Martin Luther King, Jr.
Mayor Roach and The Volunteer Center will also be recognizing Tiana Syriaque, a 6th grader at White Plains Middle School and a White Plains Youth Bureau Club Excel participant. Miss Syriaque is the winner of the Day of Service t--shirt design contest. Her winning design has been printed on the t--shirts that will be worn by the hundreds of volunteers throughout the county who will participate in this Day of Service.

Skaters of all ages know that Ebersole Ice Rink is the place to be this winter season! This year, Ebersole is boasting some great improvements. The Skate Shop at Ebersole Ice Rink now includes three hundred of the newest, most up-to-date rental skates available from the skate industry. Additionally, the skate shop is equipped with a state of the art skate sharpening machine, where you can have your skates sharpened for a minimal fee. Also new this year is the Slap Happy Café, which is open during public sessions and is providing a menu of terrific home style meals and snacks for the whole family.

2011 Comprehensive Annual Performance and Evaluation Report

Each year the City of White Plains prepares a Comprehensive Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER) for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). This report reflects the expenditures of the City on programs and projects which support the economic and social development of the community, and promote goals for sustainable living. The attached PDF provides a summary of (1) the City’s expenditures during the City’s 2010-11 fiscal year and during the 2010-11 Community Development reporting period on (2) housing accomplishments, including housing rehabilitation, public housing, special needs housing and housing for the homeless; (3) community service program accomplishments, and (3) capital improvement projects. The CAPER also describes grants and other revenues received by the City to support these programs.

Open Space/Recreation District Environmental Review
October 4, 2011 At its meeting of October 3, 2011, the Common Council adopted the following Final Scope for the preparation of a Draft Generic Environmental Impact Statement regarding proposed amendments to the Comprehensive Plan, Zoning Ordinance and other land use and environmental regulations for certain public and private open space parcels identified on the Comprehensive Plan Land Use Map as Parks and Open Space and not owned by the City of White Plains or the White Plains School District. FASNY Scoping Document and Complete Application Online

On October 3, 2011, the Common Council of the City of White Plains, as Lead Agency for the environmental review of the application of the French American School of New York to construct and operate a private elementary and secondary school and accessory nursery school, held a public scoping session on the proposed Scoping Document submitted by FASNY. At that scoping session, the Common Council established a 32 day period to receive written comments on the Scoping Document, ending November 4, 2011, at 5:00 P.M. Written comments should be submitted to the City Clerk, City Hall, 255 Main Street, White Plains, NY 10601, or by e-mail to cityclerk@whiteplainsny.gov.
