The Farmer's Market Moves to Temporary Location Starting Wednesday, August 23rd

The Farmer’s Market will move to a temporary location starting on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 while improvements are made to Court Street. The temporary location will be the Court Street parking lot (located on Court Street between Quarropas Street & East Post Road).

Please bear with us as we work to improve Court Street and make it an even more enjoyable location for the Farmer’s Market and other events.

Thank you!

About the Court Street Project:

This project will allow the City of White Plains to make capital improvements to Court Street between Martine Avenue and Main Street.

This one block stretch of Court Street has become the City’s “go to” location for events and programs. The City’s popular Wednesday Farmer’s Market is held there from the end of April through November. The City also hosts an annual outdoor Yoga event, the Frightfully Fun Children’s Halloween Festival, WinterFest, a nine day holiday market featuring artisan craft and food vendors, an outdoor movie event in the summer, the White Plains Juneteenth Festival, and the Youth Bureau Health & Wellness Fair at this location. The annual Downtown White Plains Criterium utilizes Court Street as part of the race course. The White Plains Business Improvement District created an after work “Summer Soulstice” concert held on Court Street which they expect to grow. White Plains’ New Year’s Eve celebration, the largest in the County, is held on Main Street, at the intersection with Court. Many of these events are free and all are open to the public to enjoy.

Court Street has become well known among our residents and downtown workforce as a place where special events happen in the City. The City would like to continue to expand the offerings on Court Street with interesting and diverse programs and events that will attract a variety of age groups.

In order to do that successfully, the City determined that certain capital improvements are necessary. The block is in need of street and sidewalk upgrades, as well as electrical upgrades and aesthetic improvements.

This project is grant funded. Funding was secured by White Plains Assembly Members Amy Paulin and David Buchwald. It will allow the City to move forward on these capital improvements and to create an on-street environment that better supports the logistical needs of events and programs and which also improves the aesthetics of the street as an event location and for local businesses.
